Sitting among the museums on Wade Oval, the Glidden House was transformed into a bed and breakfast. The conversion of the mansion provided a readily accessible “hotel” on the CWRU campus. Paran Management commissioned ka to renovate the mansion and design a three-level expansion to accommodate 32 guest rooms, a fitness center and meeting spaces. Connected to the existing house by an atrium, the addition was designed to complement the site and Glidden’s architectural style. ka’s landscape plan also enhanced the century-old mansion and created a courtyard for outdoor dining and receptions within the charming landscaped setting.

The ever-changing hospitality market brought Paran to ka again in later years to redesign the second and third floors of the historic mansion. ka transformed a warren of small rooms into multi room suites that would increase the offering of guest rooms by providing an upscale experience. Suites contain separate bedrooms, dining, parlor, living and exterior terrace areas.  

A third phase, The Glidden House Inn, will be a 16,000 square foot extended stay facility that will add 16 more suites to the project. Designed to blend with the architectural style of the existing Glidden Mansion, the facility will connect to Bellflower Court, a new pedestrian path through the University’s campus and expand the mansion’s green space. Off-street parking will be screened from view.
