Bellflower Court exists today as an unassuming 2-acre pedestrian connection linking Case Western Reserve University’s north residential village with the academic core. KA was challenged with creating a vision that could transform the purely functional space into a unique campus destination. The study focused on enhancing the physical characteristics of the alley to both enrich the experience of the pedestrian and celebrate the adjacency of several well established restaurants and eateries.

The resulting vision for the space is established by pushing beyond the boundaries of the existing linear framework to create a series of ‘connected spaces’ that provide seating, alfresco dining, artwork and enhanced tree canopy. A simple, yet memorable language of elements and materials establishes an identifiable brand to the space, adding further value to the overall identity of the campus.
