Bayer Healthcare Headquarters - 67 Whippany Drive | Master Planning, Design, Architecture, & Executive Architect

67 Whippany Road is the facility that serves the U. S. Headquarters of Bayer HealthCare and MetLife Investments. The 94-acre site is the former location of Lucent Technologies and Bell Research Laboratories. It is located in a New Jersey designated metropolitan area. The work is occurring in two phases.

The first phase links two existing office structures with a 5-story glass atrium. Each of the structures has been renovated; one with a 2-story vertical additional. In addition to these Class A office buildings, one of the existing research buildings has been rejuvenated as a fitness center. As part of this phase, approximately 2,500 on-grade parking spaces have been constructed within parking fields surrounding the buildings.

The total area of the renovated and linked buildings is approximately 670,000 sf. The buildings are clad with insulated precast panels and glass curtain walls systems.

The buildings and the site are seeking LEED Gold certification. A majority of the LEED points come from improved mechanical systems, a tedious selection of materials based on sustainable qualities and by reusing the existing structures.

The master plan anticipates future expansion for Bayer, additional office space, a hotel, multifamily communities and a senior living component.
