Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole | Retail Design & Executive Architect
Located less than thirty miles from Washington D.C. and Baltimore, Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole transformed the aging Parole Plaza Shopping Center into a 2.1 million square foot, mixed-use “town center.”
The project focused on the creation of a grand boulevard on the 33-acre site, lined with 600,000 square feet of multi-level retail space. Sitting above the shops are 358 residential units, most offering a view of the Chesapeake Bay. Future development may see up to 900 residential units at the project.
KA designed the retail portions of the project and coordinated its tenant infrastructure, hardscape and landscape. KA also served as the design and executive architect for one of the multi-use buildings. This building will house office—its lobby’s interior and corridors were designed by KA as well—above restaurants and retail. An extensive signage program, themed around the local popularity of everything nautical, provides the wayfinding so needed in a project this large and this diverse.
To date, two phases have been completed. The retail portion opening was followed later by the first residential phase opening. Pad sites make way for future development of additional residential, office and hotel.
