When they began the $100 million University Square project, ka designers were challenged to fit 611,000 sf of retail, restaurants, and a five story parking structure onto a tight, 17-acre site. It quickly became evident that the only solution was to go vertical. A two story Macy's Department Store and a two story Target anchor the three separate retail levels. This structure was designed to be built in phases in order to keep the existing department store opening during construction.
