Recent completion of this 340,000 sf renovation brought brighter concourses, an updated look and a new courtyard to The Mall at Northgate in San Rafael, California. ka served as the executive architect, seeing through the design development, construction documentation and construction administration until the renovation’s grand opening in November 2009.

Three new mall entrances now greet visitors from the parking areas and provide continuity with the outward facing tenants, creating a project that is as walkable on the outside as it is inside. Windowed clerestories and skylights allow more natural light to enter the mall’s corridors and a new food court brings new life to the its tenant mix.
