ka master planned and designed this multi-tenant office complex for The Dalad Group, comprised of two buildings on an 18-acre brownfield site. The "L" shaped buildings are oriented around a large lawn to create a campus feel. Because of a steeply sloping site, ka was able to integrate a lower level enclosed parking garage beneath the building.
What appears to be a landscaped patio between the two buildings, is actually the green roof of the common conference and amenity center which connects the two buildings at the lower level. The center is capped by a pyramidal glass skylight and has a panoramic view of the wooded valley beyond.
The project's simple but elegant material palette consists of domestic granite and porcelain floors, rift cut red oak veneer wall panels, carpeted corridors, indirect and decorative light fixtures and glass walls. The focal point of the two-story lobby is a glass enclosed open stair capped by fiber optic lighting.
Key green elements include: Exterior solar shading devices; use of low voc materials; building module allowing for daylighting strategies; use of locally available materials; a green roof; and covered parking
