ka's current design builds upon our original design of the late 1980's when The 1901 Glidden Mansion was converted from a single family residence to a luxurious inn. As part of this plan, ka also added a thirty two room addition, fitness center, and interior and exterior meeting/entertainment spaces.
Situated among Cleveland's museums, the campus of Case Western Reserve University, and University Hospital, the Glidden's ownership felt that there was a need for additional capacity responding to the long-term visiting professionals associated with the adjacent institutions.
To that end, ka developed a separate sixteen suite Cottage Inn adjacent to the current Glidden House. The new Cottage is sited to establish a campus feel, with outdoor spaces blending into the existing Glidden House landscape. The architecture design respects the vocabulary of the Historic Glidden House and its massing maintains the existing streetscape. Pedestrian walks tie into the University's existing pedestrian paths, anchoring it to the campus.
