Originally retained to design a master re-development plan for this 1960's-era regional mall, ka was eventually commissioned to create a plan for re-energizing the entire mall to offer its visitors a fresh new look and feel. ka's master plan included the addition of multiple outparcel buildings clustered around the perimeter of the existing mall. In an effort to create a more attractive front entrance and complement the adjacent Barnes & Noble store, a grand entrance complete with a porte cochere, outward facing restaurants, and retail were added as well. A new logo and entrance signage was designed to enhance the new identity for the mall.
An exterior wayfinding plan was implemented to establish new traffic c patterns and direct vehicular traffic around the renovated site. Key elements such as the corner monument and the vehicular directional signs give the project a new presence and reinforces the message of a refreshed and revitalized shopping center. The new interior Environmental Graphic Design plan incorporates warm colors offering visitors an inviting experience. Decorative lighting and wood panels detail the ceilings throughout the mall further integrating the new design plan. The comprehensive plan directs visitors to their desired locations with ease and is essential when establishing a new identity and rand for an existing structure. The additional outparcels created in the renovation allowed for unique design opportunities within the interior design plan. Vertical overhead directional signs were implemented to serve as guideposts for visitors navigating to exterior outparcel destinations.
