When Allen-Bradley decided to consolidate their offices, they hired ka to review five major sites in Cleveland's eastern suburbs. The vacant Landerhaven Golf Course held the most potential, but it was already being redeveloped into an office park and the new road system did not leave a parcel large enough to accommodate the 462,000 sf facility. ka suggested a roadway reconfiguration that freed up enough land to support the project and its future expansion.
ka then devised a scheme to preserve the mature trees by placing the buildings and parking within the existing fairways. Major entryways, breakout areas, trails, ponds and landscape accents were also configured to save existing vegetation, making this new headquarters appear as if it had been part of the site for many years.
